TALHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Sunshine State set a record 142.9 million visitors in 2024, up 1.6% from 2023.
“The results are clear. Florida is a great place to visit, live and do business,” DeSantis said. “Another record year is evidence of leadership importance, and Florida’s freedom state is a model of the country.”
The fourth quarter featured 33.1 million visitors, including 29.9 million domestically, 2.5 million overseas, and 742,000 from Canada. Despite Hurricanes Helen and Milton, Florida tourism remained strong. Hotel occupancy rose 6.7% in the fourth quarter, with nights sold increasing by 1.6% per year. Airports also grew, with total intrusions rising by 3.1%.
“Under the bold leadership of Governor DeSantis, Florida’s tourism industry remains the world’s leading,” said Secretary Commerce J. Alex Kelly. “Florida tourism continued to break records in 2024, recovering from a challenging hurricane season, promoting economic growth for Florida communities and families, and improving quality of life.”
