SAN ANTONIO, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida murder suspect hoped he was kicked out of Lee County Tuesday for a fatal stab wound in Pasco County, the Florida Highway Patrol announced.

At 3:14pm, the Hillsboro County Sheriff’s Office instructed the troopers to carry out a traffic stop on a 23-year-old LeHikers man from Toyota Tacoma.

The troopers followed the suspected murder truck on a northbound I-75 before heading east to the SR-52 in San Antonio. They pulled his car at the intersection of Mirada Boulevard and took him into custody.

The man identified as Lucas Carlton was being asked to kill him from Lee County, officials said.

On April 7, Lee County Councilman responded to a home in the 3000 block of 56th Avenue on LeHigh Acre, finding the victim dead in a garage with several stab wounds. Authorities said the victim had domestic ties with Carlton.

“This is a totally horrifying act and my heart breaks for the victims’ families,” said Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marseno. “I am proud of my detective’s dedication all night and the multi-agency teamwork that led to the arrest of this violent criminal within 24 hours.”

Carlton was arrested for second-degree murder. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said it was waiting for Carlton to be handed over to the Lee County Jail.
