Below is a news release from the Reagan Coolidge Coal Birth of Florida Legislature Sheila Chelfils McCormick’s potential campaign violations, fraud and embezzlement.
The Coolidge Reagan Foundation has filed a complaint claiming that Cherfilus-McCormick, who bypassed millions of dollars from Florida taxpayers, has accepted more than $150,000 for his Congressional Campaign’s contribution to illegal campaigns.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Coolidge Reagan Foundation – Nonprofits, a nonprofit that has invited record six-figure fines by a federal election commission complaint against Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee, now brave fraud, embezzlement, campaign finance violations, Sheila Chelfils-McCormick (FL-20) in Florida. According to the foundation, Cherfilus-McCormick engaged in fraud and embezzlement to divert millions of dollars from Florida taxpayers for her personal use, and illegally funded her campaign, including more than $150,000 including illegal and unreported corporate contributions.

Details of the Foundation’s FEC complaint Cherfilus-McCormick is a non-profit Corporation Truth & Justice, Inc. They accept the contributions of illegal in-kind campaigns from and try to hide their crimes by failing to report those illegal contributions. In 2022, TJ Inc. made a $150,288.64 wire payment to print and mail vendors (images and graphics) to cover costs associated with Cherfilus-McCormick campaign materials. At the time, Congress Inc.’s SCM, the leading candidate committee for Cherfilus-McCormick, undermined the funds needed to pay even some of the printing and mailing costs paid by nonprofit corporations that could not legally contribute to federal candidates or pay services related to federal candidates’ campaigns.

As the Congressional Ethics Bureau discovered last year, there is “substantial reason to believe” that Cherfilus-McCormick committed a blatant violation of the federal government’s campaign finance law. The foundation is now urging the FEC to investigate the matter and begin enforcement proceedings against lawmakers and her campaign committee. It also seeks accountability for the apparent seven-figure fraud and embezzlement scheme in Florida.
The foundation also submitted a crime introduction to Florida Attorney General James Usmierer over Shelfils McCormick’s crime embezzlement scheme. The introduction outlines how Cherfilus McCormick signed the deal in 2021 on behalf of Trinity Healthcare Services, a private hold company owned by her family and where she serves as CEO. FDEM agreed to pay nearly $595,000 to nursing staff and Canbusters who support COVID-19 vaccination efforts across the state. Under the contract, Trinity sent a bill to Florida for $50,578.50 in March 2021, but in fact paid Trinity $5,057,850 for obvious administrative errors. In other words, Florida sent 100 times the amount of the bill, and more than nine times the total total of the contract to Cherfilus-McCormick’s company.
Rather than notify FDEM of the mistake, Cherfilus-McCormick exploited the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic to steal money and incorrectly paid three external entities that mistakenly controlled the majority of taxpayer funds directly to Trinity. This includes another Trinity name entity, SCM Consulting (the apparent acronym for “Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick”) and EC Firm LLC, which owns 50%. A few days after the money flowed through outside companies and then into your personal account, Cherfilus-McCormick lends more than $2 million of that fund, then created several other large loans from taxpayer funds totaling $3.9 million.
“The greed, corruption, injustice, boldness and relentless family to both legal and hardworking tax families know no boundaries,” said Dan Backer, a lawyer for the foundation. “The Coolidge Reagan Foundation is proud that our complaints have launched an investigation into the FEC. We hope that the Florida Attorney General will also be seeing Cherfilus-McCormick’s criminal embezzlement for a long time and will hold those who have repeatedly stabbed her.”
“It brings transparency and accountability to American democracy, as the Coolidge Reagan Foundation has done many times,” said Shaun McCutcheon, chairman of the Coolidge Reagan Foundation. “It is our duty to expose corrupt politicians like Rep. Sheila Chelfilas McCormick, who continue to stab their members in the back for personal and political interests.”
