FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WFLA) – His father was drowned over the weekend after running into the sea to save his two children.
Authorities said the incident took place on Father’s Day. Antwon Wilson, 33, of Lauderhill, spent time with her kids on the beach in Fort Lauderdale.

According to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, dispatchers began receiving 911 calls at 7pm shortly after reporting a drowning in the ocean near B Ocean Resort.
Ocean Rescue Lifeguard was on duty at 7pm, but as he concluded the day, Li heard the phone and rushed to the scene.
“They turned the truck around and were able to become the first responders of the fire service,” said Daniel Moran, chief of the Fort Lauderdale Fire Service battalion.
Authorities said young girls between the ages of 7 and 10 are struggling underwater. Her father, Antwon Wilson, was in the sea trying to help her. The girl’s brother also swam nearby and appeared to be suffering, according to the police station.
A good Samaritan jumped into the water and helped me, but was overwhelmed and returned to the coast.
“The father arrived at her daughter and was able to float until the lifeguard could come in and pull her out,” Moran said.
Wilson’s other children were also saved from the water. However, Moran said Wilson went into the water and didn’t resurface.
Authorities began searching for Wilson and found him underwater a few minutes later. He was pulled to the shore and taken to a nearby hospital. However, authorities said Wilson had not survived.
One of Wilson’s children was also taken to the hospital with a good Samaritan who tried to help. As of Monday, police said both patients would “wake up and react.”
