Clearwater, Fla. (WFLA) – There was no empty parking at Moss Feaster’s funeral home, as Jose Castro was remembered by friends, family and members of the community.

Castro was killed in a clearwater ferry collision last Sunday when he was attacked by another boat.

Forty-five people were on board and ten people were injured.

This day was filled with painful emotions as people gathered on Saturday for public viewing and prayer services.

“We miss him, it’s so bad, we’ll be destroyed, my mother will be destroyed,” said Castro’s sister, Sandy Todd.

His family describes Castro as the light of his life. I was always happy and spent as much time as possible with my two young girls.

“He always united us, united his family with his barbecue and his parties, and he always had a good time,” said his nie, Angie Todd. “I think that’s mostly what brings us together now, how happy he was as a person.”

The crash happened near the Memorial Causeway Bridge.

“We deserve to see something going on from this crazy incident.

The family wants justice for their two beloved fathers.

“We can’t make this disappear. We can’t let his life go in such a moment. We need him justice, we need the righteousness of his girl that he leaves behind,” she said.

Sunday marked the week without Jose Castro, and his family said the community’s support has helped them empower them.

“We would like to thank the whole community from the bottom of our hearts. We read all the comments online and see that everyone has the support behind us and us.

“I’m grateful that Peruvian families have come here. In reality, they come to see my brother because it shows how much my brother loves people,” Sandy Todd said.

“If it were us alone, it would have been very difficult, but with the community behind us, it makes us feel really loved.

His family said they would not stop fighting for justice for Jose. Additionally, GoFundMe has been set up for funeral costs.
