Six or seven cows fled the farm and wandered on the roads of West Melbourne near the interstate. The cow seemed to have escaped from a hole in the fence.
It was an entirely unusual scene when six or seven cows escaped the farm and found them roaming the road in West Melbourne near the entrance to Interstate 95.
The spectacle took place at St. John’s Heritage Parkway just after midnight on February 12th. Police in West Melbourne responded to the scene after reporting that they called for seeing “all packs” of cattle on the road.
Videos shot by passersby show several law enforcement officials have closed the road to prevent one of the cattle from walking to the Interstate 95 ramp. The large horns can hear the blast.
“That’s not uncommon, but it probably doesn’t happen as often as it used to be due to the amount of local development,” said Lt. Col. Greig Ellenstoft at the West Melbourne Police Station.
How did the cow end on the road in West Melbourne?
They seemed to have escaped through a hole in the fence.
The farm they are housed is in the jurisdiction of Brevard County, but they were found in West Melbourne, so the agency responded. Someone called, surrounded the cows and used a drone to make sure everything was explained.
It took me about an hour to surround them.
