MSC Cruises announced Wednesday that she named her as the godmother of actress Drew Barrymore as the ship giant that comes to MSC World America this spring.
Barrymore has already appeared along with actor Orlando Bloom in a commercial for Cruise Line, which debuted during the Super Bowl.
Barrymore, famous for her childhood roles, including “ET” and “Firestarter”, is also known for her adult roles such as.
“Charlie’s Angels”, “First Date of 50”, “Never Kissed.” She is still a producer and hosts the “Drew Barrymore Show.” She will join Bloom at the ship’s naming ceremony on April 9th at the new terminal on the Miami line.
“When MSC Cruise asked me to be the godfather of MSC World America, I immediately said yes!” Barrymore said in a press release. “I absolutely love to travel – it burns my soul – and it’s amazing that it’s part of something that helps people set out on incredible adventures.”

The ship is the second largest world class on the Line, and is in over 200,000 tonnes of gross tonnes. This makes the competition closest to Royal Caribbean oasis and icon class ships. It has held the title of the world’s largest cruise ship for the past 20 years.
MSC World America can sail with 6,762 passengers on a crew of 2,138. Like the royal family, the World America is engraved in seven districts.
This includes the outdoor park where the thrill rides of The Harbor, The Side the Ship are known as the Cliffhanger, and the water park and rope course. Another major space is the 3-deck World Galleria with shopping, restaurants and bars. The MSC Yacht Club ship concept of a line for high-priced customers features 152 suites.
It is the first of several new ships heading to Florida in 2025, including Norwegian Aqua on the Norwegian cruise line, Royal Caribbean sea star, celebrity cruise “Celebrity X-Cell”, Princess Cruise, Princess Cruise and Disney Destina on the Disney Cruise Line.
The ship will begin regular voyages of almost seven nights Caribbean itinerary starting April 12th, featuring stops at Ocean Cay, MSC’s private Bahamas destination.
This line has been increasing its North American presence in recent years. Recently, it announced that it will bring its second world-class ship to Port Canaveral in 2027.
