It’s Orlando’s Memorial Day weekend and offers many three days to mark Florida’s unofficial start to summer. Holidays represent a time when people gather for cooking, beach excursions and socializing.

On Memorial Day, remember the true intentions behind America’s armed service heroes and the holidays. Visit the war memorial and pay tribute to the deceased, who were service members.

Here’s how you can celebrate and honor a holiday weekend in Central Florida:

Ocoee City Of Ocoee Honors collapsed at the annual anniversary ceremony. The event features retired Colonel Shay Tully Bradley as keynote speaker and a presentation in colour from the Honor Guard of the OCOEE Police. The event will be on May 22nd at 11am at N. Lakeshore Drive 125, OCOEE. Details: Call 407-905-3100

The city of Orlando is celebrating and inviting the community to participate in a ceremony that he remembers, honoring the brave men and women of the US military at Greenwood Cemetery. The ceremony will begin on May 23rd at 6pm on 1603 Greenwood Avenue in Orlando. Details: orlando.gov

Orange County brings together the Cypress Grove Park community for an anniversary salute to honor the memories of all veterans. The ceremony features the meaning and folding of the American flag, veteran pinning, guest speakers and coloured posts. The Prelude begins at 9:45am and the ceremony will begin at 10am on May 31st at 290 Holden Ave. in Orlando. Details: orangecountyfl.net

The City of Leesburg is hosting a programme with speakers and tribute concerts at Veterans Memorial Park. The ceremony will begin on May 24th at 10am at 600 W. Meadow St. in Leesburg. More details: Leesburgflorida.gov

The city of Sanford will hold an anniversary celebration at Veterans Memorial Park to honor those who gave life to their country. A memorable ceremony will be held at 9am at 110 W. Seminole Blvd on May 26th at 10am in search of a patriotic band performance and a military vehicle display. In Sanford. Details: sanfordfl.gov

Clermont brings anniversary celebrations to the Clermont Highlanderville and the Pavilion Complex community. In addition to traditional memory, the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall will be on display at the Waterfront Park from May 24th. Details: Clermontfl.gov

The American Legion Post 243 in Oviedo will host memory of the anniversary at Oviedo Cemetery (118 Aurin Avenue in Oviedo), which begins May 26th at 11am to 7am. See the fallen Florida memorial at Oviedo Cemetery from 8am to 8pm daily from May 30th. Details: oviedolegion.org

Woodlawn Memorial Park presents the 75th Annual Anniversary celebration with an invitation open to community members to bring together and remember those who fought for American freedom. The programme will begin on May 26th at 10am at 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road in Gota. More information: Facebook.com

Cape Canaveral National Cemetery holds memories with laying wreaths, speeches, moments of silence and rifle salutes. The one-hour event will begin at 5525 US Highway 1 north of MIMS at 10am on May 26th. Details: 321-383-2638

Winter Garden will host an anniversary community ceremony that reminds you of local heroes with wreaths, patriotic songs and veteran roll calls at Veterans Memorial Park. The programme will begin on May 26th at 8:30am at 420 S. Park Ave. in Winter Garden. More information: cwgdn.com

Windermere is observing anniversary at City Hall. The event will begin on May 27th at 10am at 520 Main St. in Windermere. Details: Town.Windermere.fl.us

Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens will launch their “Sunset at the Zoo” event for the first time this season on May 23rd with an extra time. The zoo will resume with a $6 ticket (if purchased in advance). Family 4 pack tickets are available. This includes hot dogs and drinks for $44. The event will feature live entertainment, family activities, food trucks and more until May 23 at 3755 W. Seminole Blvd. In Sanford. Details: CentralFloridazoo.org

Mount Dora hosts the annual Corn Festival at Elizabeth Evans Park with Zelwood Sweet Corn, Contests, Food Benders and Live Music. Family-friendly events also include a cornhole, a kids’ area, petting zoo and a corn meal contest. Tickets cost $20 per adult and $10 per child ages 4-9 (prices will increase at the gate in advance). Daytona Lagoon celebrates Memorial Day weekend by free admission to active and retired service members with a valid ID. Please use the contract from May 24th to 26th at 601 Earl Street in Daytona Beach. More information: daytonalagoon.com

Sunset Walk Orlando’s Promenade will host a four-day Memorial Day weekend celebration with live music, car shows, street performers, vendors and food and drink specials. The festival will be held every day from May 23rd to 26th at 3251 Margaritaville Blvd. In Kissimmee. More information: sunsetwalk.com

City of Casselberry is opening the “Classic Rock and Car Show” to the public over Memorial Day weekend at Lake Concord Park. Steelin’Peaches gives the event headlines with openers Tyler Goodson and Relic. Visitors can see over 150 classic cars. The city honors those who have died in military service with a color guard display. The free event will be on Casselberry’s 95 Triplet Lake Drive from 4 to 9pm on May 25th. Details: casselberry.org

The Orlando Fringe Festival offers plenty of shows for art lovers on the holiday weekend before the event closes on May 26th.
