Disney Cruise Line has delayed the launch of one of the two ships that were scheduled to debut later this year, citing “unexpected delays” in the shipbuilding process.
The Disney Adventure, which was expected to depart from Singapore for the first time in December, will celebrate the maiden’s voyage on March 10th, 2026.
However, Disney Destiny debuted from the Port Everglades in November and is still sailing on time.
“As we were working on the final touch to bring Disney Adventure to our guests, we encountered an unexpected delay in the shipbuilding process,” Joe Schott, president of Disney Signature Experience, said in an emailed statement. “We have decided to adjust our timeline to ensure that the experience we offer reflects our commitment to excellence. We know this may be a disappointment for our guests. We work directly with them to provide flexible re-booking options and maintain the trust they place in us.”
This Disney adventure began as a partially built global dream, a vessel originally ordered by Genting Hong Kong, a Chinese holding company that owned several cruise lines. Star Cruise was the original line that Disney Cruise Line planned to sail the ship until it purchased the partially built ship in 2022.
The first ship in Disney’s global class is the eighth and largest ship on a 208,000 tonne cruise line with rooms of over 6,000 passengers and 2,000 crew members. Disney Adventure sails a 3- and 4-night itinerary in the South China Sea.
Guests booked on the original maiden voyage can sail on the new maiden voyage with a 50% discount. These guests can be automatically rebooked or earn cash with a 50% discount on future cruises. Maiden Voyage Guests may also request a refund if they are unable to sail on the new date.
Passengers booked through other affected sailing will automatically receive a full refund and must book by March 31, 2026 to sail before March 31, 2027.
