PENSACOLA, Fla. (WFLA) – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will hold a press conference in Pensacola on Tuesday.
First Lady Casey DeSantis will also appear in the paper award, according to a release from the governor’s office.
The Desantis office did not provide any additional details.
The controversy continues to “hope Florida” contribution
This comes as it gets caught up in the controversy surrounding Hope Florida, a foundation led by Casey DeSantis. Florida lawmakers are considering a $10 million donation to Florida Hope from a $67 million settlement with health insurance company Centene, which was fined for over-claiming Medicaid.
House minority leader Fentris Driskel (D-Tampa) said the money had been sent to two political groups, and a few days later gave millions of dollars to the political committee, which is fighting Amendment 3.
Florida Republicans are also investigating the issue, said House Speaker Daniel Perez. DeSantis called the criticism from Republican lawmakers of him and his wife a “bassed attack.”
The state’s newly appointed Attorney General, James Usmieyer, is also present in the mix due to his relationship with the political committee he overseen as DeSantis’ Chief of Staff. He said Florida “did nothing wrong,” Hope said.
