TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Gov. Ron DeSantis has announced a proposal to put the land into the Presidential Library of Donald J. Trump in Miami-Dade County.
DeSantis said at the next board meeting of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund on September 30, he would propose an item to convey the 2.63 acre parcel adjacent to the Freedom Tower.
“President Trump achieved results for the American people and had a lasting impact on the history of our country,” Gov. Ron DeSantis said. “No state has delivered a presidential agenda better than the free state of Florida. We are honored to house his presidential library in his hometown.”
The property is currently being used as an employee parking lot at Miami-Dade College’s Wolfson campus, according to the governor’s office.
If approved, it would become the first presidential library to be founded in the state, providing generations of Americans with the ability to honor President Trump’s service and legacy, the Governor’s Office said.
The board of directors are:
Wilton Simpson, Governor Ron DeSantis Blaze Ingoglier Agricultural Commissioner, as Chief Financial Officer of Chair Attorney General James Usmier.
According to Desantis, the board of directors of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund was established in 1855 and is responsible for the acquisition, management, protection and disposal of the state’s land.
