MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) – A Miami-Dade sheriff’s deputy was arrested Wednesday after being accused of receiving and producing child sex abuse materials.
According to NBC affiliate WTVJ, the case came to light after a complaint was filed against 51-year-old Carl Miranda Blum in the state’s attorney’s office.
According to the complaint, Blum traveled to Georgia in the spring of 2025, where she recorded multiple videos of herself engaged in sexual acts with the then-17-year-old victim. It also claims that Blum received numerous videos and images of minor victims while engaging in sexually explicit behavior.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Blum is a 29-year veteran of the department.
The agency told reporters that the investigation is currently underway in a Georgia prison.
They said she faces charges of producing visual depictions, including sexual exploitation of minors. She is also faced with charges related to receipt of sexually explicit visual depictions involving minors sentenced to prison for 5-20 years.
