TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – National Democrats want to keep Florida ahead of the mid-term momentum.
This week, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released a list of seats to target before November 2026. The three are located in Florida and include districts that cover most of Pinellas County. Currently, seats are being held by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna.

“Currently, Pinellas County’s top priority is guaranteeing that FEMA will exempt the 50% rule,” Luna says.
In an interview last week, lawmakers outlined some of her goals for her second term.
“We’ll be able to confirm the nutrition of the beach. We have a temporary fix right now, but we need a final solution,” Luna said.
Pinellas County Republican defeated Democrat Whitney Fox in November. Official results show that it was around 55% to 45%.
While discussing the actions she is taking in her district, lawmakers repeated her support for President Trump’s agenda.
“I’m not there to stop the president’s agenda. I have a very good relationship with President Trump,” Luna said.
Professor J. Edwin Benton of USF Politics said this upcoming midterm elections will be a referendum on not just Luna, but mainly on President Trump.
“They won’t be able to step down from office in 2026, but they certainly can vote from office to hurt the president’s agenda,” Benton said.
Professor Emeritus also said Democrats are now gaining momentum after some criticism of the president’s economy, tariffs and federal labor cuts and spending cuts.
“The midterm elections give the people the opportunity to punish the president’s party,” Benton said.
Earlier this month, Democrats recently achieved results in two special Florida Florida congressional elections that are leaning towards Republicans, but the GOP still held those seats. Since then, Democrats have now started raising funds to overturn three other Congress seats in the state.
“It gives Democrats hope, strangely enough, that Democrats have done nothing to infiltrate themselves, yet still turn those seats upside down,” Benton said. “What it is, it’s all about the negative image of the Trump administration.”
Pinellas Republicans and Democrats have not responded to questions related to this story. Luna’s campaign also did not respond to requests for comment.
