(Nexstar) – Daylight saving time is over, so it’s been a few weeks since I switch my clock back to an hour and then change the weeks after a few weeks. If lawmakers from several states had their own way, this would be the last time their components observe their practices year by year.

In almost every state last year, lawmakers are considering laws that lock clocks to permanent sunlight or permanent standard time.

Two states, Arizona (at least most of them) and Hawaii, are already observing permanent standard times. If Congress approved such a move, it was enacted by 10 other states that have enacted laws that would make daylight savings time permanent.

Daylight Saving Time: How about “locking the watch” in your condition?

In about half of the remaining states, efforts focus on permanent standard times. The map below provides an overview of the state’s recent legislative measures regarding seasonal time changes.

! function() {“strict”; window.addeventlistener(“message”, function(a) {if(void 0!== a.data[“datawrapper-height”]){var e = document.queryselectorall(“iframe”); for(var t in a.data[“datawrapper-height”])(var r, i = 0; r = e[i];i ++) if(r.contentwindow === a.source) {var d = a.data[“datawrapper-height”][t]+”px”; r.style.height = d}}})}();

Let’s take a closer look at where the efforts to end daylight saving time are changing in each state’s clock.

meeting

The two bills will save the US daylight savings all year round. The other two allow the state to decide whether they want to observe permanent daylight savings time. All four are introduced to the committee, and one needs innovation.

Alabama

Although there are no active laws this year, the law was enacted in 2021 to place Alabama in permanent daylight savings time with permission from Congress.

Alaska

Four invoices have been introduced, all focusing on permanent daylight savings time. There was just no one there.

Arizona

Arizona is already observing permanent standard times.

Arkansaud

The bill that made standard time permanent has died on the committee.

California

The bill to place the state on permanent standard time remains on the committee. Voters gave Congress permission to lock the watch in 2018, but the state did not. A Senate resolution passed in March to recognize the health benefits of permanent standard time annual time.

Colorado

Lawmakers have not introduced any relevant laws in Colorado this year, but in 2022 the state enacted a law that allows permanent daylight savings time with legislative permission.

Connecticut

If Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or New York, a bill was introduced to the committee with federal approval and federal approval to place permanent daylight savings time.

Delaware

In 2019, the state enacted a law that would ensure that Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania were doing the same thing with federal permission to observe permanent daylight savings time.

Columbia area

After not considering relevant measures in recent years, the District of Columbia Election Commission recently approved a textbook on measures that would exempt districts from observing daylight savings time.

Florida

Lawmakers struggled to pass permanent daylight savings bills, but Florida became the first state to enact such a law in 2018. Still, the move requires federal approval.

Georgia

Georgia passed the bill in 2021 and adhered to permanent daylight savings time if the opportunity arises.

Hawaii

It’s no surprise that like Arizona, there are no laws proposed this year.

Idaho

If Washington and Oregon do the same, a bill was introduced earlier this year to make Idaho a permanent standard time.

Illinois

Several Senate and House bills to enact permanent daylight saving time in Illinois, as well as resolutions urging Congress to enact permanent daylight saving time. There was just no one there.

Indiana

Two bills, the state senator and the House, would exempt Indiana from daylight savings time. All three remain on the committee.

Iowa

The bill to save daylight savings in Iowa forever was introduced to the House Subcommittee and recommended for passing. A similar Senate bill remains on the subcommittee.

Kansas

A bill to make Kansas permanent standard time was referred to the committee while the doors were kept open to switch to permanent daylight savings time following an act from Congress. It moved through the Senate and into the House, but Congress will be postponed until January 2026.

Kentucky

A bill to make Kentucky’s standard time permanent has been sent to the committee and remains as of August.

Louisiana

In 2020, Louisiana enacted a law to permanently observe daylight savings time if given the opportunity.

main

Few states have passed laws related to time changes this year, and Maine is one of them. The law enacted in June requires federal approval to save daylight savings throughout the year. The bill that puts the state at permanent standard time was postponed indefinitely after a day.

Maryland

The bill to save daylight savings in Maryland forever was withdrawn by sponsors in February, and no additional laws have been announced since.

Massachusetts

Several bills were introduced to enact permanent standard times, all of which were introduced to the committee. The bill enacting permanent daylight saving time faces a similar fate.

Michigan

The bill exempting Michigan from observing daylight savings time was referred to the committee in March.

Minnesota

The state approved a plan to enact permanent daylight savings time in 2021, but the companion bill introduced this year will make Minnesota permanent until Congress grants the state “permits advanced standard time all year.” Both bills are on the committee.

Mississippi

Mississippi’s permanent daylight savings law was declared dead in March.

Missouri

The bill would make Missouri permanent standard time, but if the US did so, it switched to permanent daylight savings time and was introduced earlier this year.

Montana

The bill that made standard time permanent in Montana died in May.

Nebraska

Two bills – one for permanent daylight savings time and the other for permanent standard time – was scheduled for final measurements in March. Another resolution was introduced to the committee to the Nebraska legislative delegation to “take positive action to reform the current approach to daylight savings time.”

Nevada

The bill that made Nevada’s standard time permanent passed through Congress but stagnated in Senate committees. The law does not allow any further measures. A similar bill in the Senate faced a similar fate.

New Hampshire

The state has not considered laws in recent years.

New Jersey

A bill to monitor standard hours all year round was introduced in February in New Jersey and introduced to the committee. The permanent daylight savings time bill introduced last year was also featured in the committee.

New Mexico

There are no laws regarding seasonal time changes that have been introduced in recent years.

new york

This year, New York has announced laws to save some daylight savings. They will study the effects of daylight savings on states, create a task force to permanently save daylight savings and make standard time permanent. As of August, no one has passed.

North Carolina

A bill to save daylight savings forever in North Carolina was introduced in February and introduced to the committee.

North Dakota

The bill introduced and passed in the House would have made standard time permanent in North Dakota. It was then amended to require permanent daylight saving time before the Senate passed permanent daylight saving time. Another bill to make standard time permanent could not pass the home.

Ohio

A version of the House and Senate of the resolution calling for Congress to leave Daylight Saving Time on the committee permanently.

Oklahoma

The passage recommended a bill to require permanent standard time, but in March they were unable to get enough votes.

Oregon

If California and Washington do the same over the next decade, the bill, except for all but one county in Oregon, in Mullhawl County, will remain on the committee. If California and Washington choose daylight savings time all year round and Congress approves it, they would do the same with everything in Oregon except for Mullhawl County. Mulhaul County was the only county in the state during mountainous period and would not have been affected.

Bills with similar targets without permanent daylight savings time provisions are also featured on the committee.

Pennsylvania

The bill seeking permanent standard and permanent daylight savings time has been introduced to the committee. The Senate resolution calling for Congress to end seasonal change has passed.

Rhode Island

There have been no recent efforts to change the seasonal changes in Rhode Island clocks.

South Carolina

South Carolina has introduced permanent standard and permanent daylight savings time billing. Both remain on the committee.

South Dakota

The bill that made standard time permanent in South Dakota was not passed earlier this year.

Tennessee

There were no new laws in Tennessee this year. In 2019, the state approved a law to observe daylight savings time with permission from the legislature.

Texas

Several laws have been introduced in Texas that focus on changing seasonal time. What enacts permanent daylight saving time was signed into law in June. Two similar bills remain on the committee, and it is unlikely that they will pass.

Multiple bills would have exempted the state from daylight savings time. They all remain on the committee and will likely not pass, considering the aforementioned bill that has become law. The joint resolution (total of 3) was also introduced, and the opportunity to weigh the permanent times voters would like to observe.

The joint resolution and bill seeking daylight savings time have been introduced to the committee, but no additional measures are expected.

Yuta

The bill to place Utah at standard Utah time was introduced indefinitely in February.

Vermont

No new laws have been introduced regarding seasonal time changes, but the state previously thought it was a bill that would make daylight savings time permanent.

Virginia

The bill that would bring Virginia to permanent standard time did not pass earlier this year.

Washington

The bill to make the annual time in Washington a standard time remains on the Senate committee as of August.

West Virginia

Two bills to eliminate daylight savings time in West Virginia have been introduced to the committee.

Wisconsin

Laws that lock Wisconsin watches at standard time remain on the committee.

Wyoming
The state has not considered seasonal time-changing laws this year. In 2020, Wyoming enacted a law to help save daylight savings forever if three western states – Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Utah – do the same thing. Only Colorado passed similar laws.

For now, daylight saving time is set to end on November 2nd.
