Thousands of Costco workers prepared to approach the midnight deadline on Friday while the workers’ union and the company negotiated.
Team Stars Union represents 18,000 Costco workers in California, Washington, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey and New York.
It is unknown whether the strike will close the store. Costco has 219,000 US employees and 617 US stores. The company said that labor agreements with team stars would apply to less than 10 % of these stores.
On January 20, Costco’s Team Stars members voted overwhelmingly with strikes if the current contract did not reach a new three -year contract contract by midnight on Friday, when the current contract expired.
The union members say that Isakua, Washington, needs to offer a contract offer that reflects its sales and profits. COSTCO’s revenue ended on September 1, increasing by 5 % in recent fiscal year, $ 254 billion. The company reported twice the net income of 2019.
