Continuing negotiations on YouTube TV, CBS, and Paramount. Are there any transactions?

YouTube TV and Paramount have reached a short-term agreement to maintain Paramount-owned channels on YouTube TV. The contract is not a long-term deal, and negotiations are ongoing. Like CBS, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, MTV.

If you are a YouTube TV customer, you may already know that live television and streaming services may be losing top priority channels like CBS, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon.

For most of Valentine’s Week, YouTube TV customers watched messages and commercials on screens while watching Paramount-owned channels that said they would lose the channel if Paramount failed to reach a deal with a live television provider.

On Thursday, February 13th, the two streaming services had not yet reached trading, with existing transactions set to expire at 1pm. Every year they march through crazy basketball games.

However, on Thursday night, YouTube TV made a post about X, announcing that Paramount’s blackout date has been further promoted in the future.

Here’s what you need to know about YouTube TV and Paramount negotiations, what the YouTube TV update said, and channels at risk of leaving the live TV platform.

Have YouTube and Paramount reached deals?

YouTube TV and Paramount have reached an agreement, but that’s a short-term deal. That means it could still fall and leave YouTube TV customers without access to the Paramount Channel. Essentially, this contract will give you more time to negotiate the company. This is not a long-term set-in stone trade.

“Member Updates: We’ve reached a short-term extension on Paramount to retain content on YouTube TV,” YouTube TV said in a post on X on Friday, February 14th.

“Subscribers will continue to have access to the Paramount channel, including CBS. We will continue to negotiate on your behalf, so we appreciate your patience.”

What channels does Paramount own?

The top priority channels you receive on YouTube TV will depend on where you are and which subscription package you have.

According to Paramount, here is a list of some of the channels YouTube TV viewers could lose if the two streaming services don’t reach the deal:

Can I watch sports on Paramount+? Is Paramount Plus a March madness?

Yes, you can watch live sports with your Paramount Plus subscription. YouTube TV users who want to stream March Madness Games live will be able to see some, but not all, of the March Madness Games on the platform.

Games can only be viewed in the Paramount Plus ShowTime package, and only CBS games will be available on streaming platforms.

“Paramount+ provides access to NFL games, NCAA basketball, PGA golf, UEFA soccer and more,” the TVGuide website said.

“Local CBS availability and gaming coverage depends on your location, but Paramount+ can access even more live sports content with Showtime subscribers.”
