Universal Orlando confirmed construction work is moving forward in the lost continental area of the Adventure Island theme park. Details about what will happen there and what specific time frames have not been revealed.
“In the coming months, there will be construction activities on the Lost Continent as part of the site planning to accommodate future developments,” the company’s official stance. The demolition permission was submitted to Orlando.
The Lost Continent is one of the original lands of IOA, which opened in 1999. Two of its major attractions are “Sinbad’s Eighth Voyage,” a stunt and stage show that closed in 2018, and a special effects walk-through experience that closed in 2023.
Initially, Lost Continent was also the roller coaster home of the Dueling Dragons, and was later absorbed into Harry Potter’s original wizard world.

The land sandwiched between Seuss Landing and Wizard World currently includes several merchandise stores. Fire-Eater’s Grill, counter service restaurant. And Mythos, a full-service restaurant overlooking the lagoon in the center of the park.
Additional islands for recent adventures include Hagrid’s magical creature bike adventure from Wizard World, which opened in 2019, and Jurassic World Velosi Coast, which debuted in 2021.
Ride in Orlando’s theme parks: What’s closed, what’s coming
This spring, Universal, which completed the epic Universe Park, began demolition of the Hollywood Rip Ride Rock at Universal Studios in Florida, and began work behind a nearby construction wall. The Studios project has not been identified.
