MIAMI (WFLA) – More than 100 immigrants have been sent back to Hatiti after the US Coast Guard said they were attempting to illegally enter the country on a boat about 50 miles from Florida.

The 30-foot boat, which was overloaded with 132 people, was discovered by a crew of a helicopter between Cuba and Caysal Bank, just 50 miles southeast of the Florida Keys marathon.

Officials said the landhouse notified seven observers in the Coast Guard area and that the migrants were on the Coast Guard ship.

All 132 people were provided with basic medical procedures before being returned to food, water, shelter and Hatiti, according to the Coast Guard.

“The Coast Guard will continue to prioritize strengthening domestic integrity and disrupt attempts to illegally enter the United States at sea,” said Zane Carter, Coast Guard District Enforcement Officer. Masu. “We are steadfast on our mission to protect America by securing maritime boundaries.”

At the beginning of fiscal year 2025, on October 1, Coast Guard crews deported a total of 313 migrants to Hatiti. Authorities said 857 Haitian immigrants had been deported the previous year.
