The events leading up to this conflict remain unknown.

There have been several collisions across the state over the past few months involving vehicles and Brightline trains. In early January, dashcam video captured the moment a Brightline train hit a car in North Miami Beach after the car was attempting to bypass a railway intersection.

At the end of December, three firefighters and 12 Brightline passengers were injured as a Delray Beach Fire Rescue truck reportedly got stuck in the truck. In November, a van and train collided with a Pompano Beach, pushing them into the side of the train.
