UPDATE: The Brevard Legislative Delegation meeting scheduled for Jan. 29 in Cocoa has been canceled due to scheduling conflicts with a special session of the Florida Legislature called by Governor Ron DeSantis and the rescheduling of legislative committee meetings. It was canceled due to A new date for the delegation meeting has not been decided.
Brevard County state legislators will hold their annual Congressional Delegation Meeting on January 29th at Cocoa City Hall, 65 Stone Street.
The meeting was a great opportunity for local residents to ask two Florida senators and five members of the Florida House of Representatives, who represent parts of Brevard County, to discuss legislation for the next two-month legislative session, which begins March 4. This is an opportunity to present ideas and other suggestions. Those who will have this opportunity will be representatives of local governments, businesses and organizations.
Two meeting segments scheduled
Rep. Tyler Sirois (R-Merritt Island), Florida’s House majority leader and chairman of the Brevard delegation, said the meeting will be in two parts.
The first segment begins at 3:30 p.m., with registered speakers representing local governments, commissions and special districts speaking. Government usage time is limited to 3 minutes per case.
Part 2 begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes local bill proposals as well as remarks from registered speakers who may appear as members of the public or on behalf of civic organizations. Individual or organizational representatives are limited to two minutes per person.
How to participate in the discussion
Anyone interested in speaking at the meeting must complete and return the Request to Appear form no later than 5pm on January 22 to reserve their place on the agenda.

If available, supporting documentation containing the following information may be included and presented on the requester’s letterhead (if applicable):
Legislative topics. A brief description of the problem. See applicable Florida law. Proposed solutions, proposed changes to existing law, or proposed new language. Supporting data. For funding requests, all relevant project information, requested amount, local match amount and return investment. Name of the member of Congress supporting the request. Name of known party opposing the request.

What happens if I miss the deadline?
Public comment cards will be distributed on the day of the meeting and placed in the back of the room for those who do not timely submit a citation form.
If he has time, Mr. Sirois will call on speakers who submitted public comment cards that day in the order in which they were received.
Who are the members of the Brevard Legislative Delegation?
The two state senators and their districts are:
Tom Wright, District 8, northern Brevard County and most of Volusia County. Randy Fine, District 19, south central Brevard County.
The five state representatives and their districts are:
Chase Tramont, District 30, northern Brevard County, southern Volusia County. Tyler Sirois, District 31, Brevard County Central. Debbie Mayfield, District 32, Brevard County Central. Monique Miller, District 33, southern Brevard County. Robert “Robbie” Brackett, District 34, southern Brevard County and all of Indian River County.
All seven are Republicans.
