Barkhaven: Bring your appetite and your best friend

I love dogs. I have a dog. I want to adorate all the dogs. And there are a lot of people like me. But that’s not the case.

That said, the pub food at Barkhaven is surprisingly good. Not only do people who don’t love dogs, but there are the same rules inside the restaurant as others: service animals are the same) as well as Michelin Guide inspectors.

Yes, really. That’s that good.

Outside, Barkhaven is just a heaven for that, voyeurs and its pets, where a fenced, grass-leaved off-leesch dog park awaits. At the time of pressing, they had finished a new independent section just for the petite pooch.

There is a bench. Barrel table for drinks. There are buggies (I know what they are) and to complement them: a dispenser filled with hand sanitizers. Also known as the staff is “pack leaders” – they are present to compensate for the constantly distracted dog moms and dads.

For puppies: round lupus, a bowl of water to pour a pool filled with hoses, opportunities for socialising for dogs, and what they most want, are allowed to go wherever you go. Car rides to get there are just bonuses.

Well, of course, no food is allowed in dog parks (ICKs). Also, no dogs are allowed in restaurants (except for working dogs). But if you’re hungry, there’s plenty of space for you. The patio has access to a full-service bar and well-behaved dogos interwoven into the patio with plenty of shade. There is also a menu of dog-safe goods. It’s sweet and flavorful. You can order your puppy.

And based on the people menu of chef/partner Chris Hernandez, I would like to taste either of it. That being said, I don’t need to.

Instead, you can sample the 3-hour Sue video wings and sample them with a number of serious gourmet flavors (like Harissa Buffalo, Honey Mustard Crunch, etc.), which come with a jumbo order of 8 people ($16). A half-pound burger topped with homemade Pimiento cheese, pickles and sauce ($17). With 48 hours 00 dough, wood pizza is airy, crisp and unique toppings.

One ($17) Beirut pizza comes with kefta beef mix, feta, fresh tomatoes, crispy red onion relish and yogurt sauce. And it’s tasty.

In fact, Hernandez’s Latin heritage may be fully on display at his rapid joint downtown Papi Smash burger, but here his Lebanese side has similarly achieved smashing results in the kitchen of his expanded, impressive trailer.

“The feedback has been consistently astounding the quality of the food,” he says. “People come and expect normal pub food and are being blown away.”

Barkhaven chef/partner Christopher Hernandez is famous for his papi smash burgers, but that's not what you'll find here. If appropriate, there are big glitches, 1½ pounds of Florida-grown beef pate, Mediterranean Pimiento cheese, paprika truffle aioli, zaatar onion rings, arugula, tomatoes and homemade pickles. You can count me among them. I jumped out in November as they looked around a bit and opened. This place is adorable, very airy, with a large open bar with high ceilings and indoor and outdoor seating, making it a great place for the Orlando Urban Trail (and with bike racks). I knew I would visit with my dog.

Then I saw the Herb Garden. And custom pizza ovens (no gas, only wood – “oaks from Sutton Farms, a small family farm in North Florida,” says Hernandez. And then the pizza itself is accompanied by a side of Caribbean sticky rib ($22), a true heap of M, guava and Calabria chili glaze and killer onion rings and jalapeno ranch. and a salute that swells of winding, delicious cone ribs ($12), erotically salute through the filter of the Med.

And I forgot to bring my dog. I delved into the eyes of the puppy begging for food he shouldn’t have, as well as things he wouldn’t want to share anyway.

It’s not just me.

My meal companion felt the same, cooling over fries seasoned with a side of Zaatar Bravas ($12), garlic tahini and azalea sauce (she really loved the secret menu items she noticed: imitating McDonald’s.

Hernandez says many people come without a dog. Not to be surprised, but you may feel a bit guilty (you won’t miss the dog park puppy barking us from the other side of the fence. Next time we’ll request another dog-friendly spot by the building, but we’re away from the happy (and yes, yuppies) chaos in the play area.

He is now 14 years old. He squeals a little. But his good boy. He deserves a burger and a puppy cup of some vegetables or ice cream. And I deserve a mushroom pizza with burrata and caramelized onions and house fermented honey.

Who allowed them to order from the same location?
