A Gaines County, Florida resident is charged with federal charges allegedly trafficking methamphetamine, according to the U.S. Lawyer’s Office for the Northern District of Florida.Ronald Carl Peavy II, 49, of Old Town, has been accused of owning it with the intention of distributing more than 50 grams of methamphetamine. If convicted, Peavy faces the biggest potential life sentence in federal prison.Peavy is scheduled to be arrested in federal court in Gainesville on July 1 at 2:15pm before U.S. Magistrate Judge Midori A. (Hill) – The Trump administration and Florida leaders are moving forward with plans to build detention facilities in remote areas surrounded by the nation’s swamps, retaining undocumented immigrants awaiting deportation. The site, called “Alligator Alcatraz,” can be opened with softside holding units for hundreds of detainees in the coming years through a federally funded partnership and overseeing build-outs and management by the Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM).
