By Bernard Condon NEW YORK (AP) — When the Trump family announced a new phone call at its headquarters earlier this month in front of a massive American flag, the pitch was simple, concise and packed with pure patriotism. Trump is clearly rethinking. How about “Popularly Americans”? These are two words that can be replaced by the “USA In the USA” pitch that appeared on the website just a few days ago, and customers can pre-order by etching their so-called T-1 gold tone phones back. Elsewhere on the site, other vague terms are currently being used, explaining that the $499…

Almost every Windows user ran alongside the infamous “Blue Screen of Death” at some point in his computing life. Now, after setting it to highly recognizable blue for over 40 years, the updated error message will appear immediately on a black background. The infamous error screen change came as part of Microsoft’s broader efforts to improve the resilience of the Windows operating system following last year’s cloud strike incident, crashing millions of Windows machines around the world. In a announcement Wednesday, Redmond, based in Microsoft, Washington, wrote: As part of that effort, Microsoft says it is “rationalizing” what users experience…
Jeff Amy ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia is the latest state to block a federal judge’s law requiring age verification of social media accounts. Like seven other states where such laws are blocked, federal judges ruled on Thursday that Georgia’s law violated his right to free speech. The ruling by US District Judge Amy Torttenberg means that the Georgia measures passed in 2024 will not go into effect as planned. Instead, Totenberg granted a provisional injunction that obstructed the law until a full judgment on the matter was made. Georgia law requires that some social media providers take “commercially reasonable” measures…

It began with a thunder and ended with an astonishing dishonor.Welcome to Wonder Franco’s career, an inverse baseball fairy tale.Franco was a man as a free, but broken man, leaving his trial on Thursday for sexual abuse in the Dominican Republic. A two-year suspended sentence for intimate relationships with a minor girl kept the Rays playing out of prison, but the chances of returning to major league baseball will almost certainly be ruined. When the court clerk read the verdict, Franco dropped his head in his hand and seemed to wipe tears from his eyes.Looking back, he should consider himself…
TAMPA — Clearwater businessman Leo Govoni was released on bail Thursday afternoon due to concerns that assets purchased with money stolen from the Medical Trust Fund could still be hidden. Federal Judge Amanda Santhorne decided during the detention hearing that Gobony had to remain in the Pinellas County Jail until the crime was resolved. This is an extraordinary step in non-violent crime. Govoni, 67, was charged Monday with 15 charges including postal and wire fraud, money laundering and bank fraud after an FBI investigation into the disappearance of $100 million from a trust fund set up for disabled and injured…
SAN DIEGO — Hours after the surprise raid this month at Buona Forchetta, an Italian restaurant in the San Diego’s South Park neighborhood, where masked and armed U.S. immigration agents handcuffed employees and eventually took four workers into custody, a still rattled Matteo Cattaneo was trying to process what had happened to his business — and why. By any chance, had he used the federal government’s voluntary program, E-Verify, to authenticate the legal status of his workers, a reporter asked him. No, said Cattaneo, the owner of multiple Buona Forchetta restaurants in California’s San Diego and Orange counties. “There’s a…
