The Sears Christmas Wish Book began in 1933, at the height of the Great Depression. Sears, Roebuck & Co. recognized the enduring strength of hope and imagination during the holiday season. Although Sears had already been producing large general catalogs since the late 19th century, the Wish Book was conceived as a special seasonal edition devoted entirely to Christmas gifts. With its arrival in mailboxes across America, the catalog transformed from a practical shopping guide to a much-anticipated cultural event for families, especially children. From its earliest editions, the Wish Book reflected the changing aspirations of American families. Early versions…

By Florida Daily Investments FORT LAUDERDALE — A week after a blistering internal audit exposed serious flaws in Broward County Public Schools’ latest construction procurement, district leadership returned to the school board Tuesday to ask for a do-over. Critics say the move comes only after Superintendent Howard Hepburn and Chief Operating Officer Wanda Paul themselves stalled the process. Superintendent Hepburn announced plans to ask the board to reject all bids submitted under RFQ 26-059, but despite repeated warnings from school board members and in-house counsel, Superintendent Hepburn pursued that very request. The decision effectively acknowledges that an audit revealed that…

Tanqueray’s Bar & Grill, a downtown Orlando bastion that opened in 1989, will close on New Year’s Eve due to city regulations and a non-renewal of its lease. “The city has not been kind to local bars in the downtown entertainment district since 2023,” the nightclub posted on its Facebook page over the weekend. In addition to this, the decision was also influenced by the building owner’s decision not to renew the lease. Club owner Dan Charles said he would have turned 70 on New Year’s Eve. “And after 49 years in the hospitality industry, it feels like the stars…
