The 15 state attorney general urged a group of top corporate leaders on April 15 to drop the corporate diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) program.Such programs are “splitting” and “illegal,” a state office holder led by Andrew Bailey of Missouri, said in a correspondence addressed to the Business Roundtable. The six-page letter was signed by 14 other state attorney generals, including James Usmierer of Florida, Chris Kerr of Georgia, David Yost of Ohio and Todd Lokita of Indiana. All attorneys generals are Republicans.”The Business Roundtable decided that the racist Day initiative was more important than the free market,” Bailey told the…
Authorities are investigating whether the coordinated prison attacks stem from drug activity or anxiety associated with prison activists groups. On the second consecutive night, coordinated arson attacks target French prisons.French Justice Minister Gerald Dalman said the car was burning in a prison in Tarascon, southern France on early April 16th.At a press conference, he also said Vendin-Le-Vieil, in northern France, near the Lens, and Condé-Sur-Sarth, in the Normandy area near Alençon, are both “blackmailed.”France’s state-owned public broadcaster France, France, reported that fires were also reported on a flat block of prison officers in Seine et Mahn in northern France.Yesterday, Dalman…
After extensive deliberation and public comment, the Leesburg City Commission rejected the proposed moratorium on rezoning and annexing of housing in the city. At Monday’s meeting, the commissioner voted 4-1 against the suspension, and Commissioner Jay Connell cast the only vote for the Moratorium. The outage would have suspended virtually any new residential use projects that require comprehensive planning revisions and rezoning until January 1, 2027. City officials were considering the move because Leesburg is close to the village, the country’s largest retirement community – the country – they were seeing an onslaught of housing developments that undermine the city’s…
TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. (WFLA) – After years of delays and pushbacks from the community, a luxurious Tarpon Springs apartment breaks into the door Wednesday morning. Caroline’s anclote Caroline Harbor, formerly an Ancolote Harbor apartment, was approved in 2021 but suspended in 2022. The project has been a source of tensions in Tarpon Springs for years, but now, despite objections from neighbors, construction of more than 400 gorgeous riverside units along the Anclote River is underway. “I think it will be an effort for you to preserve that property in its natural state as it is now,” said the resident who…
Norwegian cruise line was the first to open a private stop in the Bahamas with a big stirrups almost 50 years ago. Although the island has been strengthening for many years, major improvements, including the first pool and dock, are expected to open as early as November. Construction continues on a 1,500-foot-long dock, avoiding the boring process of having to soften passengers with a small boat to get to land. NCL president David Herrera, who called the island “GSC,” said the pier would solve the problem the ship had when the sea was too rough for passengers to land. “We…
I hope for FloridaLawmakers summon Florida Attorney General for DeSantischarity Probe | April 15Why does Gov. Ron DeSantis refuse to answer basic questions about “charity” that his wife, Casey DeSantis, runs? The governor will not answer valid questions. Instead, he attacks the representative to ask them. Is this good leadership? If Gov. Desantis has nothing to hide and all the transactions were on the board, why wouldn’t he answer the question? I hope Republicans continue their investigations without being threatened by DeSantis’ ridiculous attacks on them. This diagram represents an increase of 16.1 compared to the same CDC report released two years ago.A report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States on April 15 showed that one in 31 children in the United States has autism. The numbers marking another jump of long increases stem from the CDC’s latest Autism and Developmental Disorder Surveillance (ADDM) network survey published in the CDC’s morbidity and mortality weekly report. The report urged Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to say that “the autism epidemic is ramping.””This has increased significantly over the past…
Like many other states, Florida has different taxes on a variety of products, including cigarettes. House Bill 785 and Senate Bill 1418 are in the Florida State Legislature. These bills seek to provide regulatory clarity on this issue by redefineing the terms “tobacco” and “tobacco products” in the Florida Act and introducing the definition of “heated tobacco products.”Advocates say this will be an important step towards codifying the kind of risk-based taxation Florida already maintains, legally setting it on stone, and reducing costs associated with traditional tobacco products to smokers and the public.James Madison Institute (JMI) tax analyst Doug Wheeler…
I drove a Volkswagen bug to high school and kept two things in my glovebox. Amp and clip-on tie. The Tampa Catholic junior who loved loud music was also hard. The other day, the brown and blue striped tie came to mind as state lawmakers debated whether to relax Florida’s child labor laws. The pending law in the House and Senate removes the working hours limit for ages 16 and 17 in school week, clearing the way 14-year-olds are legally employed. The law is so aggressive on its face that GOP Jay Collins in Tampa and Gov. Ron DeSantis, who planted the…
Estimated by Melinda Nuguen, King Cajun Clawfish generally sells more than £1,000 per week during the prime season, from March to May. It also makes sense that National Crayfish Day fell midway on April 17th. At the time, the family-owned business will delight customers who have been boiling pots since the door opened in 2010, offering the popular “Buy £5 and get one free”. King Cajun Saw Fish Royal Feast Shell Fish Platter.
