TAMPA – A Lakeland nurse has been sentenced to more than five years in federal prison for stealing and tampering with fentanyl targeting hospital patients in the Tampa Bay area. US District Judge Stephen D. Maryday was sentenced five years and three months later to 30-year-old Eric Brewer in April after pleading guilty to tampering with consumer products and obtaining controlled substances through fraud. Federal prosecutors said that Brewers, a licensed registered nurse, worked at multiple Tampa Bay hospitals, repeatedly diverted fentanyl between June 2 and September 12, 2023. Authorities said his actions showed “extreme indifference” to the risk of…
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Some law enforcement officials continue to indict people under Florida law that prohibits people living in the United States from entering the state illegally, despite federal judges halting enforcement while challenged in court. Two more people were arrested and charged in July, according to reports that are required to be filed as punishment contrary to the judge’s ruling. Both men were arrested by a sheriff’s officer in Sarasota County, on the state’s southwest coast. The charges come months after Miami District Judge Kathleen Williams first halted state law enforcement. As punishment for being found in civil…

Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) — Nvidia and AMD have agreed to share 15% of revenue from chip sales with the US government, President Donald Trump confirmed at a press conference Monday. The Trump administration stopped selling advanced computer chips to China over national security concerns in April, but Nvidia and AMD revealed in July that Washington could resume selling H20 and MI308 chips used in artificial intelligence development. The president said he wanted 20% of the sale in exchange for obtaining an export license to sell “outdated” H20 chips to China, but praised Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang for cutting…

The recall was announced on July 31st, affecting approximately 43,830 IKEA 365+Värdefull items in the US, and in Canada it sold for $8 each from March to May 2024, along with an additional 10,700 units. The recall was issued because small pieces of metal from the press could collapse by “substantial lacerations or ingestion risks to the consumer,” according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. There were 10 incidents involving a globally reported garlic press, three of which were related to reports of…
by Caroline Petrou Cohen of the Los Angeles Times Michael Buday has one eye on his calendar as he plans to buy a second-hand Tesla. Residents of Orange County, California, have been left for two months to take advantage of the federal tax credit, which saves thousands of dollars when buying an electric vehicle. The federal government will stop paying $7,500 incentives for new electric vehicles and $4,000 in credits for used vehicles on September 30th. This is a sudden turnaround by the Trump administration of Biden-era efforts to address climate change emissions from gasoline vehicles. Details can be found…
st. Petersburg, Fla. (Bloom) – In the middle of another swell of Florida summer, many residents rely on the stable ham of their bedroom fans to make it throughout the night. But while low-cost cooling options may seem harmless, sleep experts should note that trade-offs come with them, especially when humidity, allergens and high-utility bills are part of everyday reality. “Fans can be lifesavers of swelling weather, especially if they don’t have air conditioning,” says Christine Rapp, sleep health expert at sleepjunkie.com. “But they can also create conditions that stimulate your body and disrupt deep, resilient sleep, but most people…
