At least five people have been killed and 19 injured after explosion at a Chinese chemical factory

The number of actual casualties from such events could be much higher as the Chinese regime routinely suppress or alter information.

On May 27, a massive explosion shook a chemical factory in East China at noon. According to state media, the explosion killed at least five people, injured 19 people, and six others disappeared.
The explosion was made by Shandong Youdao Chemical Co., Ltd, located in Gaomi city, Shandong Province. It happened in. Video footage shared online showed dark smoke swirling towards the sky, greyish white dust rising several dozen meters, causing the pipeline to spray gas outwards. People were seen running away from the scene. Some had blood on their faces and bodies.
Multiple injuries have been sent to at least two local hospitals, according to local media, including Gaomi City People’s Hospital and Gaomi City Municipal Hospital.

As of 5:35pm on May 27th, Chinese state media had not yet revealed the cause of the explosion or provided further details regarding the casualties.

The number of actual casualties from such events may be much higher. As the Chinese regime routinely suppress or change information, it is difficult to see the actual number of casualties.

The powerful shockwave of the explosion caused great damage 3.1 miles away. The shopkeeper, Chang, told the news account of Chinese social media platform Waibo that her electric car store is suffering from collapsed ceilings and crushed glass. The shop door frame was so distorted that we were unable to open the door.

The owner of the restaurant, about three miles from the Blast Site, told local media YCWB that he had heard clearly about the explosion. For safety, he and his family were evacuated about nine miles away.
Residents from nearby communities, including the Fenggan community, have been evacuated, according to a local media outlet. The explosion shattered glass at a nearby school, leading to a temporary stoppage of the class, with some students injured with broken glass.

“Nearly every glass in the surrounding building was crushed. We didn’t take off our masks because of the irritating smell,” said the owner of one store near the site.

The owner of another store about two miles from the explosion reported that the explosion was very loud and shattered the window facing the blast. “It appears the high voltage line has been cut off and the nearby area has lost power,” she added that local governments quickly got close from the site after the explosion.

Founded in 2019, Shandong Youdao Chemical Co., Ltd. is the holding company of Shandong Haomai Group. The company specializes in the manufacture of high efficiency, low toxic pesticides, and intermediates.

According to the company’s website, the plant occupying more than 114 acres of land in Gaomirenhe Chemical Park and employs more than 300 people.
