LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky Fried Chicken is uprooted from the shimmering ancestor home state that moves its U.S. corporate offices to Texas, the chain’s parent company said Tuesday.

The KFC chain – launched by Colonel Haaland Sanders and his secret blend of 11 herbs and spices – is based in Plano, Texas, with about 100 KFC corporate employees moving in the next six months, said Yum Brands, who owns KFC. Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.

Moving through the corporate office from Louisville brought us a quick response from the city mayor.

“I’m disappointed that the Yum brand learns to move KFC employees to Texas, especially because the brand is born here and is synonymous with Kentucky,” Mayor Craig Greenberg said in a statement. Ta.

Yam said the move is part of a broad plan to designate two US brand headquarters in Plano and Irvine, California. KFC and Pizza Hut are headquartered in Plano, while Taco Bell and Habit Burger & Grill are based in Irvine. Yam added that 90 US-based employees who worked remotely will eventually be asked to move to a Plano or Irvine campus depending on their job.

The company said Yam and the KFC Foundation will maintain their corporate office in Louisville.

“I asked to meet with Yum’s CEO right away, and Am Am Heartened Yum will hold its headquarters and 560 employees here,” Greenberg said. “I will continue to work tirelessly with Yam’s leadership to continue to increase my presence in Louisville.”

Employees who are being shifted will receive support for relocation and transition, the company said.

Yum said designating two brand headquarters is intended to promote greater collaboration between the brand and its employees.

“These changes will help us position us for sustainable growth and provide services that are appropriate for our customers, employees, franchisees and shareholders,” Yum CEO David Gibbs said in a news release. It’s there.

Yam also announced that he would provide a $1 million donation to fund a Yam-sponsored scholarship to the University of Louisville’s College of Business. The company said KFC will continue its brand presence in Louisville with the goal of building its first flagship restaurant.

KFC’s relationship with Kentucky is almost a century deep. In 1930, at a service station in Corbin, Kentucky, Sanders began feeding travelers, completing herb and spice blends and basic cooking techniques for the next nine years, according to the KFC website. I say it. He said there are currently over 24,000 KFC outlets in more than 145 countries and territories around the world. And the portrait of Goateed Antrepreneur is known worldwide, and is engraved on KFC restaurant signs and chicken buckets.
