Gainesville, Fla. (WFLA) – An 11-year-old boy has been accused of attempting to steal a car at the muzzle in Gainesville.

Deputies for the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Meadowbrook area Tuesday, where the victim told them that the boy had pointed a gun at them and demanded that they hand them the keys.

The boy left the area after unsuccessful attempts to carjack. Another reported an attempted carjacking about an hour later.

Deputies linked the case to an 11-year-old boy. In his room, the detective found what he described as “a small replica handgun, which was determined to be a novel writer.”

The boy was charged with two counts of a carjack armed with a firearm and an armed robber with a firearm.
