This week, Americans for Prosperity Foundation (AFPF) announced the launch of a statewide mail and digital education campaign aimed at helping Floridians understand improvements to the state’s insurance market following recent reforms.
The emails and digital materials explain how measures adopted in recent years, including curbing excessive litigation, eliminating ex parte attorney fees, and increasing consumer protections, are helping to create healthier and more competitive markets for families, homeowners, and small businesses.
“Florida’s property insurance crisis necessitated meaningful reform,” said Skyler Zander, state director of the Florida Foundation for American Prosperity.
“We’re seeing a stable market right now. New insurance companies are writing property and casualty policies in the state, and litigation costs are decreasing. We’re seeing many Florida homeowners receiving lower premiums, reducing costs and providing financial relief to Florida families,” Zander said.
AFPF said in the ad that in the years leading up to these reforms, Florida’s insurance system was under stress due to rising litigation costs, insurance companies leaving the state, and steep increases in family premiums. When the disaster struck, insurance companies stopped writing policies in the state and premiums skyrocketed.

State leaders responded by enacting strong reforms aimed at stabilizing the system, cutting unnecessary costs, and improving long-term affordability.

It highlights how these reforms are starting to work in practice.
The foundation said it plans to continue educating Floridians about how reforms aimed at lowering premium costs for consumers and attracting insurance companies back to Florida are contributing to a more stable and sustainable property and casualty insurance market.
