Florida may not have snow-capped mountains, but the Sunshine State brings some major Christmas magic when it comes to holiday rail travel. From Polar Express style journeys to illuminated historic trains, these festive excursions are perfect for families, couples and anyone who believes trains and Christmas go hand in hand.

Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or want a memorable evening close to home, here’s our guide to the best Christmas train rides across Florida.

A historic railway carriage has been transformed into a Christmas celebration.

This classic holiday ride departing from Parrish (near Bradenton/Sarasota) includes carols, decorations, and a visit from Santa. A more traditional train experience, perfect for adults who love trains and kids who love Christmas.

Kirby Family Farm Christmas Express, Willison, FL (Gainesville Area)

But Christmas Train is more than just a train ride. The Christmas Train is a great holiday event that runs on select nights in November and December.

Gates will open at 6pm and pre-registered guests will be the first to enter.

The first train is scheduled to depart at 6:30 p.m., with trains running approximately every 30 minutes. If required, the last ride will be at 9:00 p.m. All included activities close to guests at 9pm and gates close immediately at 10pm each night.

Bushnell Station Holiday Express Train Ride, Ocala Area (Mini Train, Perfect for Young Children)

Holiday Express Train Ride** Operates every Friday and Saturday night in December from 6pm to 9pm. A small train travels around the museum campus and also stops at the G-scale Thomas the Tank Engine engine.
