(NewsNation) — Soldiers and their families at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida have been told to remove Christmas decorations from their homes.
A photo posted to an Air Force Facebook group showed an email sent by Balfour Beatty Communities, the landlord of all privatized housing on the base.

“As I was driving through my neighborhood yesterday, I noticed that Christmas decorations were already starting to appear in the area,” the message said. “All holiday decorations should reflect each month and should not be done more than 30 days before a particular holiday. If you currently have Christmas decorations on the outside of your home, please remove and reinstall them according to our community guidelines below.”
Tyndall’s public affairs officer, Air Force Col. Justin Davidson Beebe, told military news outlet Task & Purpose that Balfour “adheres to community standards outlined in a legally binding lease agreement that all residents voluntarily sign.”
Davidson-Bebe added the proviso that Christmas decorations can be put up from the week after Thanksgiving until the first week of the new year. He said standards could be set by specific privatized housing communities, so rules could vary from site to site.
