Wang Zhanhai was one of seven practitioners who used the local cable network to expose the brutal persecution of the Chinese regime in 2002.
The Wang was forced to hide after taking part in a secret broadcast revealing the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
This was one of the first television network intercept efforts Minghui recorded.
CCP hoax exposure
Attempts to bring this information to the public have come at a sudden cost.
Police found the group during the surgery, fired fire and shot practitioner Xu Zhaobin in the foot and face.
The king managed to escape, fled his hometown and remained in hiding for the next 22 years. The other six were captured in the coming weeks. Everything was punished severely.

Zhang Li, arrested on March 3, 2002, was interrogated and tortured at the first detention centre in Anshan city. She passed away on August 27th in the same year after being denied treatment despite her serious condition. Witnesses described her body as “scoring the wounds of a bloody knife.” She was 40 years old.
The King’s Battle for Justice
In 2015, while still in hiding, Wang filed criminal charges against Jiang. He accused the former CCP leader of “throwing hundreds of millions of kind people and their families into a disruptive, catastrophic, basic human conscience and a moral foundation essential to a stable and sustainable society.”
The Wang writes that Falun Gong improved his health and helped him become a better person. However, as persecution began, he endured constant harassment from local police, factory supervisors and others. He sneaks up, pressured to abandon his beliefs, fined him, and forced to resign from his job.
The king said that he and his fellow practitioners had since decided to do something to raise public awareness of persecution. In addition to handing out flyers, they also thought of a better way to let more people know the truth: intercepting the local cable system.
After the 2002 broadcast, he was listed as a fugitive.
“The police tapped my phone at my home, harassed my family and canceled my wife’s small grant. “They tried to find me on my friends. On vacation, officers staked my parents’ house. They lived under pressure that no one in my family could stand.”
Unable to work or go out, the king lived constantly in fear. He couldn’t care about his older parents or support his family, he said. He described the victim as “unimaginable” in terms of physical, emotional and financial stress.
His health declined in the year that followed last year before his death. Due to severe censorship in China, his death was confirmed and reported by Minghui on May 6, 2025.

Speak for all humanity
Wang Zhiyuan, president and spokesman for the World Organization for Investigating the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), said that the Falun Gong practitioner will not only risk life for his own sake, but also for the sake of the people, society and the nation.
He told the Epoch Times on Thursday that non-Chinese practitioners are also saying not only on behalf of those suffering in the country, but also “protecting the freedom and truth of all humanity.”
Bypass the firewall
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dhafa, is a spiritual discipline based on the principles of truth, compassion and tolerance. Introduced by Li Hongzhi in 1992, it grew rapidly for its health and moral benefits, attracting at least 70 million followers by the late 1990s.
Fearing Falun Gong’s popularity, the CCP began nationwide suppression in 1999. The weapons of state media and propaganda were mobilized to trust practices.

Inspired by Chinese counterparts, Falun Gong practitioners overseas helped develop censorship tools such as Freegate, Ultrasurf and Dynaweb. These tools bypass the “Golden Shield” of the administration, also known as the Great Firewall, which monitors and censors internet access in China.
More support is needed
The former prominent Chinese opposition, now based in Australia, called the CCP “the most evil authoritarian regime in human history.” In an interview with the Epoch Times on Thursday, he warned that the spread of communist totalitarianism poses a threat to global civilization.
“For years, Falun Gong practitioners have been tirelessly brave and striving to be true and demonstrate,” Yuan said. “What they’re doing is to tear the iron curtains of CCP ideology, allowing free thoughts and ideals to flow into China like the winds of spring. This is a very meaningful move to save the Chinese mind.”
He also pointed to an increase in CCP’s Falun Gong’s overseas repression, and the Communist government adopted legal tactics to spread false information and target the group.
“It’s persecution based on hatred from a dictatorship,” he said, urging the international community to respond with strong measures.
Wang Zhiyuan of Woipfg expressed his gratitude to the US for passing the bill, and he called on Western democrats in the US to stand up to support Falun Gong.
“We need real action, not just symbolic support and verbal sanctions,” he said. “Only concrete steps can stop persecution and dismantle the CCP.”
