A Sarasota man has been charged with firearms and illegal re-entry

TAMPA, Fla. — The Federal Ju judge has charged Alisteo Theron Morales, 48, of Sarasota, on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and illegally re-entry into the United States.

Theron Morales, a previously convicted offender and undocumented immigrant, faces up to 17 years in federal prison if convicted in both numbers. The indictment also states that the government intends to confiscate the allegedly linked SIG Sauer P226 handgun, a silly .410 shotgun, and ammunition for the Hornady 9mm and Remington .38 to the crime.

According to court documents, Theron Morales was convicted in 2002 of a child-involved sex crime and was deported from the United States in 2003. Despite his prior removal, authorities say he re-entered illegally and was later found with possession of weapons and ammunition prohibited under federal law due to his criminal law and immigration circumstances.

The incident was investigated with the support of the Bradenton Police Department by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Homeland Security Investigations and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. US lawyer Abigail K. King has charged the case.

The charges are part of Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling it with cross-border criminal organizations, and reducing violent crime through federal law enforcement efforts.

The indictment is a formal charge. Ceron-Morales is presumed to be innocent unless proven guilty in court.
