A new poll by Fox News shows that socialism is becoming more popular among Democrats.
A majority of Americans (61%) oppose socialism, but a majority of Democrats support socialism.
The breakdown of Democratic Party opinion polls supporting socialism is as follows: “Very liberal voters and Democrats under 45 are both the most likely to think a transition to socialism would be a good idea, at 66%.”
The poll also found that 55% of Democrats, black voters (55%) and voters under 30 (53%) think distancing themselves from capitalism would be a positive thing.
78% of all Republican voters said it was a bad idea.

When it comes to capitalism, Americans are evenly divided on whether it’s working well in the U.S., with 51% saying it’s working well and 49% saying it’s not working very well.
The poll found Republican men and MAGA supporters to be the top pro-capitalist group at about 85 to 87 percent.
However, most liberal voters (79%), Democratic women (79%), and Democrats under 45 (72%) rate capitalism poorly.
Democrats increase support for socialism.
Last year, Politico reported that 74% of likely Democratic voters said democratic socialism was closest to their ideas, but several independent voters and a majority of Republican voters surveyed said they preferred capitalism.
Similarly, in 2025, the Associated Press published a Gallup poll showing that most U.S. adults were more likely to have a positive view of capitalism than socialism overall. But again, that view is not held by the Democratic Party.
The survey found that only 42% of Democrats view capitalism favorably, while 66% view socialism positively.
