Stuart, Fla. (WFLA) – Just before he was fatally shot, a Florida officer was caught armed with a camera charging man.

Around 7am on Saturday, officers from the Stuart Police Station responded to Sierra’s apartment complex for an armed man who “acts irregularly.”

Two gunmen arrested for murder of a 7-year-old Florida boy: deputies

Surveillance video shows an officer talking to a 36-year-old child from behind a patrol vehicle.

The suspect, not named by the police, charges officers while holding a large knife.

“Because of the threat of an armed suspect charging at the officer, officers fired the weapons for the mission that attacked the suspect,” the police department said.

The armed suspect was taken to a nearby hospital and later died of injury.

According to the police department, officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave in accordance with their policies.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office will investigate the incident further.
