Lee County lawmakers responded to the dollar tree on Sunday after witnesses of concern saw the children not abandoned in the back seat with all the windows above.
Witnesses estimated that the children were in the car for more than 25 minutes. The temperature inside the vehicle was recorded at 100 degrees, even after the door was opened for 10 minutes. On Sunday, the Tampa Bay heat broke the record at around 98 degrees outside.

Both children were buckled and only had small amounts to drink in the car.
“The woman chose to put her child in her car during the hottest days in southwest Florida this year,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marseno said. “Let this serve as a clear message. We don’t hesitate to hold people accountable for putting their lives at risk. We are grateful that these kids are OK.”
The children were released by the family after being cleaned by EMS. Their mother, identified as Marianne Isner, was charged with negligence of the child.
