PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (WFLA) – A Florida woman has been arrested after stabbing a 12-year-old in the face and neck before trying to hide her body.
Deputies responded to Cecil Webb’s wildlife management area after a 12-year-old with his face and neck amputated was found by people passing by on Monday, May 26th.
Deputies arrive and spotted the victim in need of immediate medical attention.
According to the CCSO, the victim could only tell her that the suspect, Gwendolyn Girard, 35, attacked her with a knife and placed her under the brush before leaving in a golden van.
During the investigation, the van was in North Fort Myers, at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and Girard was there too.
Girard was transported for questioning and the vehicle was towed to tow.
The CCSO’s main crime force has secured a warrant to arrest Girard on charges of worsening battery and worsening child abuse.
According to the CCSO, the detective interviewed Girard, where she confessed to the detective about the location of the knife used in the attack and told him.
“In my 33-year career, only a handful of people have been speechless. This is one of those times. Attacking a child with a knife… I don’t understand that. It’s God’s grace that she is with us today.
Girard is being held at the Charlotte County Jail on a $750,000 bond.
The victim is being treated and in stable condition.
