WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida woman is charged with attempted first-degree murder after stabbing a child 20 times with her torso and right arm, according to an arrest affidavit.
A home surveillance video shown to a Palm Beach County deputy by the father of the child shows 27-year-old Roshawn Gatlin walking into the kitchen and coming out with a large kitchen knife. Gatlin then grabbed the child with his hand and took him to a nearby corridor, according to the report.
Police say they chased a dog that was killed in an oncoming car in Florida.
At one point, Gatlin stabbed the young girl more than 20 times, but details of the attempted murder have been edited.
This document details the victim as a woman only and lists her occupation as a “child.” NBC affiliate Wesh reported that the child is three years old and is the suspect’s daughter.
Gatlin was reportedly the person who called 911.
