Ocala, Fla. (WFLA) – He was found guilty Wednesday of the 2022 murder of a toddler who “completely cut” his spine while caring for him.
On May 3, 2022, staff at AdventHealth Waterman Hospital in Tavares reported that a two-year-old girl was running into the ER in a critical condition. They tried to revive her, but she succumbed to her injuries.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, 27-year-old Travis Ray Thompson was responsible for looking at the child that day while her mother was at work.
Detectives say Thompson was angry with the girl’s mother for his recent breakup, physically abused the infant, and “completely severed” his spine.
After nearly two hours of deliberation, the ju apprentice discovered that Thompson was found guilty of first-degree murder. Following the verdict, Judge Barbara Kissner sentenced her life at the 27-year-old prison.
“This monster stole the lives of innocent children. Today, the judicial system ensures that he never walks freely again.
