MOUNT COB, Pa. — Bagpipers returned from St. Patrick’s Day parade, were taken to hospital after a charter bus crashed into a tractor trailer, officials said.
The bus left westbound Interstate 84 in northeastern Pennsylvania and came across a tractor trailer just before 6:30pm on Sunday.
A spokesman for the Pennsylvania State Police said 17 people on the bus were suffering minor injuries. The crash is not weather-related and is under investigation, he said.
According to Bill Heatherson, the band’s business manager, the bus was carrying the Greater Scranton Black Diamond Pipe Band from the Milford parade. The band expects everyone to recover in full. They canceled the group’s St. Patrick’s Day event on Monday, but some may be able to play solos, Heatherson said.
