ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) – A 16-year-old student was hit and killed by a car while walking to school Monday morning, according to a report from NBC affiliate WESH.
The Florida Highway Patrol said a crash occurred near Oak Ridge High School in Orlando when a 28-year-old driver attacked a girl crossing the street.

According to WESH, authorities said the victim had not walked a significant crosswalk when hit.
Aerial video from the scene of the crash shows two FHP vehicles and a sheriff’s office vehicle just outside the school just after the incident.
In a statement obtained by WESH, school officials announced on Monday:
Family members of Oak Ridge High School were notified that the student was hit by the vehicle just off campus. School Management supports law enforcement in investigating cases.
It is unclear whether drivers are expected to face fees.
