TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A new poll from the University of Florida Public Opinion Institute says the number of homeowners in Florida is on the rise.
Polls found that the biggest problem facing Floridians is housing and property insurance costs. Given the option, 22% of respondents said they would go without the homeowner’s insurance.
Dr. Michael Binder, a professor of Paul and professor of political science, said that in 2022, only 2% of respondents who believe housing costs are the most important issue, upwards of 25% over the course of a year.

“With the high cost of property insurance and growing public concerns across the state, it’s not shocking that over 20% of homeowners say they’ve gone without options if they have options,” Binder said.
Polls found that 25% of South Florida respondents said they would go without insurance.
