Emergency services arrived at Tamworth’s home in northern NSW at around 4:30pm on February 22, and found a 47-year-old man seriously injured and a 55-year-old man armed with a knife. Ta.

Police alleges an elderly man suffered serious head injuries to a young acquaintance inside the house.

The armed man was trapped in his bedroom before climbing onto the roof of the two-storey residence.

Professional officers and negotiators were talking to a man wielding a knife when he fell.

He was treated by paramedics for not having a chest injury before being transported to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle and before being taken to Tamworth Base Hospital.

The seriously injured man found inside the house was taken to Tamworth Base Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival.

An older man from Tamworth remains under police regarding alleged murder of another man, NSW police detective inspector Tom Irett said.

“(The police) have secured the arrest of a man who is about to claim that we are involved in the murder of someone else,” he said Sunday.

Police are investigating a variety of motivations, including whether drugs were involved and whether they found weapons they believed were being used in conflict.

“Two men were at home and something led to one of the men attacking a 47-year-old man, causing those serious injuries,” Eyelett said.

“It’s certainly something we see and a line of different research into history, relationships and the many factors that have been the motivation behind it.”

Police say the two men have known each other for years as acquaintances, and both are known to them.

Eyelet expects they will be charged against a Tamworth man in the coming days after they talk to him.

He defended the use of non-lethal weapons, including Taser and Beanbag rounds, defeating the man when he began to hurt himself before he fell.

“We have an obligation to protect life and property, including himself (and once), who began self-harm with weapons, and take appropriate measures to ensure he is in custody. It had to be done,” he said.

According to NSW ambulance inspector Timtoon, the paramedics attended a scene facing them, dealing with the suspect’s chest injury patient.

The crime scene has been established as local investigators investigate cases supported by murder detectives.
