Universal’s Destinations and Experiences have announced a franchise to use at the upcoming Universal Kids Resort in Texas. Universal Orlando fans have some familiar faces as the land in the mini theme park introduces the environment based on minions, Shrek, Cat in Boots, Trolls, Gabby’s Dollhouse, SpongeBob’s Squaredman and Jurassic World I feel the atmosphere.
The Universal Kids Resort, scheduled to open next year in Frisco, Texas, was designed for families with young children.

Details of the park’s shows or attractions have not been shared, but Friday’s news release featured some of the atmosphere. Visitors can visit their minions at a water-based holiday retreat or at SpongeBob’s underwater district. There is a music festival setting for the trolls and a swampy playground with Shrek.

Children will “learn face to face with Jurassic World’s beloved dinosaurs in a unique, exciting and interactive way,” the news release states.
“At Universal Kids Resort, children have the opportunity to perform, sing, dance and discover with their favorite characters,” Dan Cuffe, vice president and general manager of Universal Kids Resort, said via a news release. .
The 32-acre park features shades and interactive play areas in a central hub, as well as an adjacent 300-room theme hotel under construction at the site near Dallas. The hotel doubles as the entrance to the resort.

In Orlando, Universal Studios opened DreamWorks land last year with a playground in Shrek. Minions include an attraction called the sleazy Me Minion Mayhem and an interactive game with a lighted Villain-Con Minion Blast and a moving sidewalk and a Minion-themed restaurant. There is a Spongebob SquarePants themed retailer. Universal’s Adventure Island features land dedicated to Jurassic Park.
Friday’s announcement did not show whether the Orlando attraction will be repeated at Universal Kids Resort.
The Texas attraction was announced in early 2023 along with annual haunting experiences for Las Vegas. The latter is now called Universal Horror Unleashed, and the company said this week it will be open to the public in August.
