The lawsuit aims to be a targeted child and family-themed LGBT campaign in 2023.

The Florida State Board of Trustees sued Target on February 20, resolving investors by promoting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives that encouraged customer backlash and sales. and accused him of misleading him.

Florida’s new Attorney General James Usmieyer has filed a lawsuit in US District Court for the Central District of Florida on behalf of the board that oversees the public pension fund that owns Target shares.
Target faced widespread backlash in 2023 over the decision to release LGBT-themed products for children during Pride Month. Among the items sold nationwide were newborn clothing and books that explained how to use pronouns.

Target has scaled down LGBT products, expanded displays after customers boycotted the store, and some employees have expressed safety concerns after an in-store conflict.

Radiation fallout from Target’s campaign erased a $10 billion market value, but shareholder value fell by $25 billion in six months. Target’s annual revenues fell in 2023 compared to the previous year.
The legal filing violated the Stock Exchange Act by the Target’s failure to disclose “known risks” of consumer backlash against DEI and PRIDE Month Initiatives and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) orders. He says that. And it caused a family-themed LGBT-Pride campaign and shareholder losses.

Additionally, Target has actively misunderstood investors by ensuring the 2022 and 2023 annual powers of attorney that it monitors the social and political risks posed by the DEI and ESG initiatives. He claims that.

“In fact, we only monitored the risks that were perceived to fail to meet the voluntary ESG/DEI orders, both through the board itself and the applicable board,” the lawsuit states.

Target rolls back DEI initiative

He also accused the legal filing of being aimed at betraying the core client base of working families.

“The reasonable board or manager of a retailer with a core customer base of working families would not have approved such a national campaign. Nonetheless, target officials pursued it. “The lawsuit stated.

The Epoch Times contacted the Target for comments, but did not receive a response every time the publication time.

Target announced in January that it would roll back the DEI initiative following steps from other major US retailers such as Amazon and Walmart.

The fact sheet posted on the official website states that the company plans a 2025 “Raku Equity Action and Change (Reach)” initiative, “focusing on all external diversity, including HRC’s Corporate Equality Index.” He said the investigation would be suspended. LGBT Group Human Rights Campaign.

The retail giant also said it will begin evaluating corporate partnerships and ensure employee resource groups will focus on mentorship and community development.

“Throughout 2025, we will implement changes with the goal of accelerating action in key areas, promoting growth and staying on steps to match the evolving external landscape. We will continue to adjust,” the retailer said.

Reuters and the Associated Press contributed to the report.
