The list has been released. Many were targeting sexual content, and were books primarily about women, LGBTQ+ people and people of color, the nonprofit advocacy group said in the release.
“As a backdrop of the ban on books that increasingly suppress books on sexual experiences, women’s pleasures and healthy boundaries, we want to celebrate and elevate romance writers and their vast audience.” said Kasey Meehan, director of Freedom The Freedom Program. “Books introducing romance and sex, especially for young adults, can help young adults navigate the universal human experiences: romance, sex, desire, love.”
