Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed former House Speaker Paul Renner to the State University System board. Renner is a Republican, Desantis Allis, and served in his Florida home from 2015 to 2024. It continues to have a trend of putting former Republican officials in DeSantis in key education positions and promoting a conservative agenda.
On Wednesday night, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced to the board the appointment of former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner, who will oversee the state university system.
According to a press release from the governor’s office, lawyer Renner will be on the Governor’s Committee on April 15th.
Renner, a 57-year-old Palm Coast Republican, worked in the Florida House of Representatives 2015-24 and began speaking at the Chamber of Commerce for the past two years.
He grew up Republican executives that DeSantis has placed him in a position to lead the state’s conservative education remodel, including former state legislator Manny Diaz Jr. and new colleges by Florida College’s Richard Corcolan. I joined the executives. Another former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
More recently, Florida International University encouraged Lt. Colonel Janet Nunez to choose Lt. She is widely expected to nod her head to keep her work forever.
Renner joins Lake Miami Republican Jose Oliva, and yet another former House Speaker, Jose Oliva.
Renner is a solid ally of DeSantis, and when he led the house he was largely defensive to governor and would change state laws so that he could run for president under Florida’s “resignation.” I even agreed to it, but it started running later, but.
He also promoted laws that guaranteed speakers a universal school voucher and required child and age verification to limit social media for access to Florida porn websites.
Writing this December at the Ripon Forum, he charged itself as a “Republican Journal of Political Thought and Opinion,” Florida said, “balancing budgets, keeping record reserves, and state debt faster than schedule.” He retired and earned an AAA credit rating.
He added, “You can say Doge was Doge before it got cool.” He mentioned President Trump’s “Doctor of Government Efficiency” initiative, reducing federal bureaucracy and reducing waste.
According to the release, Renner earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Davidson University in North Carolina and a Law degree from the University of Florida. He is a US Navy veteran, former state prosecutor and is currently a lawyer for Nelson Mullins’s company.
His appointment must be confirmed by the Florida Senate.
