Did you accidentally spot the iconic Goodyear airship flying around Florida’s east coast on Tuesday?
If not, there’s no need to worry. The recognizable grey, blue and yellow airships will soon return.
Spanning 246 feet long and 65 feet wide, the flight vehicle left Pompano Beach earlier this week to head to Daytona Beach. It will remain there until Sunday of the Daytona 500.
Look to the sky on Monday. According to Goodyear officials, it’s time for an airship named Wingfoot Two to return home to travel to 73 mph.
How many Goodyear Blimps are there?
There are three in the US.
Wingfoot Two was housed in Pompano Beach and was baptized on October 21, 2016.
Wingfoot One, based in Akron, Ohio, was baptized on August 23, 2014 by Robin Roberts, co-host of Good Morning America.
Wingfoot Three Calls Carson, California Home. I was baptized on August 30th, 2018.
Celebrating 100 years, so board the Goodyear airship
For decades, Blimp has flew to sports games, music festivals and other cultural events. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the plane. To celebrate, Goodyear sponsors the “Buy for a Flying Chance” sweepstakes.
Winners will receive a certificate that allows two passengers to fly at one of three US-based blimps, and earn $3,000 for an additional $3,000 trip and accommodation.
Those who buy tires through goodyear.com, the automatic Goodyear service, or the Just Tyres network will be automatically populated. However, you can enter online without purchasing new tires.
The contest will close on April 10th, 2025 at 11:59pm EST. You must be a US citizen and be over 18 years of age. The winners will be drawn around April 18th, 2025.
If you win, you’re among the 0.0006% of Americans who flew on the Goodyear airship, the company said. The Blimp cabin will accommodate just 14 people.
