TALHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis promoted the administration’s immigration policy and announced the federal partnership at a press conference Friday at the Florida State Capitol in Tallahassee.

In partnership with the Trump administration, state law enforcement agencies, such as the Florida Highway Patrol, will implement immigration enforcement actions.

This includes providing warrants for immigration violations, arresting people who have entered the country illegally, and partnering with immigration and customs enforcement agencies to eliminate illegal immigrants who commit crimes.

This comes after Florida lawmakers suddenly concluded a special session on immigration that DeSantis called in their favour. They pass their own immigration bill, Trump Act, not proposed by the DeSantis Allies, and soon head to the governor’s desk for his signature.

DeSantis vows to reject the immigration bill, calling it “weak.”
